ABOUT THIS SERIES
Anointing isn’t a feeling—it’s a calling. This 5-day series explores what it means to be chosen before you’re ready, empowered beyond your ability, and sent into a world that needs what only God can give through you.
David was anointed in a field while his brothers watched. The disciples were empowered in an upper room while the world slept. God’s anointing doesn’t follow human logic—it precedes human readiness.

VOICES IN THIS SERIES
THE SHEPHERD KING
“The LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
The youngest son of Jesse, overlooked by his own family, chosen by God to become Israel’s greatest king. David was anointed as a teenager in a field and spent years tending sheep, fleeing Saul, and hiding in caves before ever sitting on a throne.
DAY 1
ORDINARY PEOPLE, EXTRAORDINARY POWER
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”
The twelve disciples were fishermen, tax collectors, and zealots — ordinary people with no formal religious education. After receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, they became the most transformative movement in human history.
DAY 2
THE ANOINTED FUGITIVE
“The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”
After being anointed and defeating Goliath, David spent years running from King Saul — hiding in caves, leading a ragtag band of outcasts, and waiting for God to fulfill the promise. His wilderness years produced the Psalms and forged the character of Israel’s greatest king.
DAY 3
THE ANOINTER OF WOUNDS
“He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.”
In Jesus’ parable, a Samaritan — despised by the religious elite — stopped for a beaten man that priests and Levites had passed by. He poured oil and wine on his wounds, bandaged them, and carried him to safety at his own expense.
DAY 4
APOSTLES — THE ANOINTED AND SENT
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
The twelve apostles (from ‘apostello’ — to send) were ordinary people transformed by three years with Jesus and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They carried the gospel from a locked room in Jerusalem to the ends of the known world.
