Creation
It begins good
A world is made on purpose, by someone, and it is called good. People are made deliberately and made like him.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

What the Bible actually is
A story, in four movements
The Bible is a library — 66 documents, written across roughly 1,500 years, by kings, farmers, fishermen, a doctor, a tax collector. It reads like a rulebook only if you open it in the wrong place.
Read from end to end it is one story with one plot. Jesus himself said the whole thing was pointing somewhere, and that he was where it pointed.
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was written in all the Scriptures about Himself.

Rupture
It breaks
People decide they would rather be their own god. The relationship tears, and everything downstream of it tears too — us from him, us from each other, us from ourselves.
But the LORD God called out to the man, “Where are you?”

Rescue
He comes after us
Instead of leaving, God comes in person. This is the part of the story Jesus is. He lives the life we could not, dies the death we had coming, and does not stay dead.
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Restoration
He puts it back
The story does not end with people escaping to heaven. It ends with God coming down to live with us, and everything broken being made new.
And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.”
