THE SCRIPT IS BREAKING

You had a story. A plan. A trajectory.

College, career, promotions, marriage, house, kids, retirement. The American Dream script. The one you were told would work if you just followed the steps.

But the script is breaking.

You got the degree—now you're drowning in debt with no job prospects. You climbed the ladder—now the company is restructuring and your role is "redundant." You saved for a house—now prices are 47% higher than pre-pandemic and mortgages are out of reach.

The story you told yourself about who you'd become doesn't fit the world you're living in.

THE NARRATIVE WE INHERITED

You didn't write this story yourself. You inherited it.

Your parents told you: work hard, play by the rules, you'll be fine. Your teachers said: education is the ticket. Your culture promised: success equals stability.

So you did the work. You played by the rules. You checked the boxes.

But the rules changed. The boxes moved. The ticket expired.

And now you're standing in the wreckage of a narrative that doesn't work anymore, wondering: If I'm not who I thought I'd be by now, who am I?

THE COST OF A BROKEN NARRATIVE

The cost of a collapsing story is this: you don't know what comes next.

You wake up disoriented. The milestones you were working toward feel meaningless. The identity markers you pursued—job title, salary, status—aren't delivering what they promised.

You're grieving a future that's not coming. A version of yourself you'll never be.

And the worst part? You're not sure if the story was ever true to begin with.

Maybe it worked for your parents' generation. But in 2026—with civil unrest, political violence, 47.9 million food insecure—the old script feels like a lie.

So what story do you tell now?

WHEN JESUS REWRITES THE SCRIPT

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus addresses a crowd stuck in their own broken narratives.

They thought righteousness meant following religious rules perfectly. They thought blessing meant wealth and status. They thought identity came from being chosen people with the right ancestry.

Jesus flipped the script:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit... Blessed are those who mourn... Blessed are the meek..."

Wait, what?

The broken. The grieving. The powerless. These are blessed?

Jesus was saying: the story you've been told about who matters and who doesn't—it's backwards.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF STORY

Then Jesus says this:

"Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

Not: Follow the cultural script and you'll be fine.

Not: Achieve these milestones and you'll know who you are.

Seek the kingdom first.

The kingdom is a different story. Not about what you achieve, but about whose you are. Not about climbing ladders, but about being known.

When the old narrative breaks, you're not left with nothing.

You're invited into a story that doesn't collapse when circumstances do.

God,

The story I told myself isn't working anymore.

I followed the rules. I checked the boxes. And I still don't know who I am or where I'm going.

I'm grieving a future that's not coming.

Teach me the story that doesn't break. The one where I'm not defined by achievement or status, but by being known by You.

Rewrite my script. Show me the kingdom.
