THE QUESTION OF APPLICATION

You've heard it: The kingdom of God is here. Now.

Not later. Not somewhere else. In the midst of you.

But you're standing in 2026, and it still feels like chaos. Politics are still fracturing. The economy is still unstable. Your anxiety is still real.

So the question becomes: What does it actually look like to seek first the kingdom?

Not as a spiritual platitude. Not as a future hope. But as a present practice.

How do you live in the kingdom when you're surrounded by collapsing empires?

How do you seek first what's invisible when everything visible is screaming for your attention?

THE KINGDOM PRACTICE: PRESENCE OVER POWER

Here's what it looks like:

Seek first the kingdom means choosing presence over power.

The empire says: Climb. Dominate. Control. Win.

The kingdom says: Be present. Love your neighbor. Serve the least.

You don't seek first the kingdom by accumulating influence. You seek it by washing feet. By showing up for the person everyone else ignores. By choosing the last place instead of fighting for the first.

Jesus didn't rule from a throne. He served from a towel.

That's the kingdom. Not later, in some celestial future. Now, in the ordinary moments where love interrupts empire.

THE KINGDOM PRACTICE: GENEROSITY OVER GREED

Seek first the kingdom means choosing generosity over greed.

The empire says: Accumulate. Hoard. Protect what's yours. Because security comes from what you own.

The kingdom says: Give. Share. Trust that God provides.

Jesus said: "Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink... Seek first the kingdom, and all these things will be added to you."

Not because money doesn't matter. But because the kingdom operates on a different economy.

An economy of abundance, not scarcity. Of trust, not anxiety. Of generosity, not greed.

You seek the kingdom by giving when it doesn't make financial sense. By sharing when the empire says to hoard. By trusting that the kingdom provides.

THE KINGDOM PRACTICE: FORGIVENESS OVER REVENGE

Seek first the kingdom means choosing forgiveness over revenge.

The empire says: Defend yourself. Fight back. Make them pay. Win the argument. Destroy your enemies.

The kingdom says: Forgive. Love your enemies. Pray for those who persecute you.

Jesus didn't defeat Rome by overthrowing it. He defeated it by dying for it. And then forgiving it.

That's the kingdom. Not a future utopia. A present posture.

You seek the kingdom by letting go of the grudge. By choosing reconciliation over retaliation. By forgiving the person the empire says deserves punishment.

This is what it looks like to seek first the kingdom: living like Jesus is already Lord, even when empires pretend they are.

THE DAILY CHOICE

Every day, you stand at a crossroads.

Will you seek first the empire? Or the kingdom?

Will you choose power or presence? Will you choose greed or generosity? Will you choose revenge or forgiveness?

The empire is loud. It's everywhere. It's screaming for your attention, your allegiance, your soul.

The kingdom is quiet. It's in the margins. It's whispering: This is the way. Walk in it.

Seek first the kingdom. Not later. Not when it's easier. Now.

In the ordinary moments. In the difficult choices. In the places where love interrupts your anxious search for control.

The kingdom is here. And it's waiting for you to live in it.

THE INVITATION

God,

I want to seek first Your kingdom. But I'm surrounded by empires screaming for my attention.

Teach me to choose presence over power. Generosity over greed. Forgiveness over revenge.

When the empire says climb, help me serve. When it says hoard, help me give. When it says fight, help me forgive.

The kingdom is here. Now. In the midst of me.

Help me live in it. Not later. Today.
