Leviticus 11 told Israel which animals they could eat and gave one reason: be holy, because I am holy. Romans 14 says nothing is unclean in itself and then gives the harder duty to the people who agree. Seven days on law and freedom, carried by Jacob, who was born holding his brother’s heel, took a blessing in borrowed clothes, wrestled with God until he was blessed and limped toward the brother who ran to meet him.
