From the root ‘tsana,’ meaning to be modest, to be humble, to walk carefully. This is the only occurrence of this word in the Hebrew Bible.
Hatznea modifies ‘walking with God,’ not just general behavior. Micah is describing a specific way of keeping company with the Almighty: quietly, attentively, without self-promotion. It is the opposite of the Pharisaic display that Jesus would later confront.
