All week we have stood in the mixed field — the night enemy, the servants’ itch, the withheld sickle, the promised shining. One question may still be working under your skin: if the sorting is not mine, and the timing is not mine, what exactly is left to me?

Jesus answered that in a second seed parable, and the answer is almost scandalous: the farmer scatters, and then he sleeps. Night and day, sleeping and waking, while the seed does something he cannot see, cannot rush, and — Mark says it plainly — cannot even explain. The Greek gives the earth a word we still use: automatē. Of itself. All by itself the ground produces — first the stalk, then the head, then the ripened grain — on a schedule no farmer set.

This is the seventh day of the week the way God built weeks: not a reward for finishing the work, but a confession about who was doing the deep work all along. You have spent six days learning to put the sickle down. Today, put down the hoe, the ledger, and the watch as well. The kingdom is growing in the field of the world, and in the field of your own chest, right now, while you do absolutely nothing about it. That is not neglect. That is how grain works.
