Enough for the Day
The week ends with a single verse and a day of stillness. The prayer does not ask you to finish it today. It asks you to receive what the day already holds.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Today is for stillness. Do not study this reading. Read the verse once, slowly, and then put the page down. The prayer has given you a pattern for the week: name the Father, ask for the name, the kingdom, the will, the bread, the forgiveness, and the rescue. Today the pattern rests. You do not have to say all of it. Sit where the light is, and let one line of it be enough. The bread for today has been given. The worry about tomorrow is not yours to carry before its day arrives. When your mind goes back to the list, say the first two words of the prayer and let the rest wait. The Father who was already listening at the start of the week is still listening now. Nothing in the reading asks you to earn this rest. It is given, in the same way the bread was given, one day at a time. If the day is loud, be quiet anyway. Eat slowly. Walk without a destination. Notice one thing the day gave you without your asking. Sleep when the day is ready to end, and let tomorrow keep its own bread.
PRAYER
Father, I have said your words all week, and today I stop saying them for a while. Keep what I have prayed. Give me enough for this day, and let me rest in you until tomorrow comes. Amen.
