ABOUT THIS SERIES
Paul used a word exactly once in the New Testament, writing to a frightened young man whose faith had reached him through his grandmother. It means to rekindle — to make a fire live again. It is built on the noun for embers. Seven days on a flame that was lit before you arrived: a covenant sworn over a sleeping man, an altar fire that was never lit twice, and a lamp that had not yet gone out on the night God spoke a boy’s name.
For anyone whose faith has gone quiet without going away. Not a crisis, not a walking-out — just a thinning, usually somewhere in a season that changed underneath them. This week does not ask you to work up a feeling. It argues that the fire is still lit, that keeping it is ordinary and unglamorous work, and that the thing you were told not to let go out is the same thing God promised not to quench.
