Today There Is Nothing to Add
Six days ago we started with a fire that was already burning before anyone arrived to see it.
Since then: a covenant sworn over a sleeping man. A word that means to revive rather than to start. Two lambs a day, and a breakfast given to somebody who had failed. A lamp almost out, in a dark building, on the night God said a boy's name.
Today there is no teaching. There is no exercise. Nothing is being asked.
The altar fire in Israel burned through the night whether or not anyone was watching it. Somebody laid wood on it every morning, and that mattered — but not today, and not you.
So sit near it.
Not to tend it. Not to check it. Just near enough to feel that it is warm.
If you have been striving all week to feel something, stop for one day and find out what is still there when you are not working at it. If you missed three days of this and came back for the last one, notice that nothing was withheld from you for it. The fire did not go out while you were away, and there is no penalty to pay before you are allowed near it.
That is the whole of Sunday.
Tomorrow, or whenever you are ready, there will be wood to carry again. Not today.

The thing you were told not to let go out is the thing He has already promised not to put out.
You can rest on that today. It is not your sentence.
